Privacy Policy

This policy explains what RifleScopeCalc collects when you use riflescopecalc.com, why, and who else is involved. It is written to be read rather than to be defensible, so if anything is unclear, ask.

What we collect directly

Almost nothing. This is a static site. There are no accounts, no logins and no user profiles.

• Calculator inputs never leave your browser. Every calculator on this site runs entirely in JavaScript on your device. Your muzzle velocity, your sight height and your zero distance are not transmitted anywhere, not stored, and not visible to us.
• Email address, only if you enter one into a form. The download form posts to Google Forms and records the address plus which page you submitted from. The contact and partner forms post to FormSubmit and deliver the message to us by email.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. It sets cookies and collects a truncated IP address, device and browser information, referring page and on-site behaviour. We look at it in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual readers and we have no mechanism to do so.

We also record which outbound product links are clicked, so we can tell which recommendations are useful. That record contains the product identifier and the page, and no information about you.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google own browser add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts. The site works identically either way.

Affiliate links and Amazon

Product links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. When you click one, Amazon receives the referral and sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy, which governs everything that happens once you leave this site. We receive only aggregate reporting from Amazon: how many clicks, how many orders and what commission. We do not receive your name, your address or what else you bought.

Third parties that receive data

• Google Analytics, for the analytics described above
• Google Forms, if you submit the download form
• FormSubmit, if you submit the contact or partner form
• Amazon, if you click a product link
• Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces and receives your IP address as part of that request
• Cloudflare, which hosts and serves the site

We do not sell data, and we have nothing to sell that anyone would want.

Cookies

The only cookies set by this site are Google Analytics cookies. Blocking them costs you nothing: no feature on this site depends on a cookie, including every calculator.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email using the link in it
• Ask us to delete your email address by contacting us, and we will
• Block analytics and affiliate cookies in your browser, with no loss of function

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. Since the only personal data we hold is an email address you gave us, exercising those rights is usually a one line message.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted an email address, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it. Continued use of the site after that constitutes acceptance.
